The CNC machine market in the Kingdom is growing fast: metal workshops are moving to lasers, furniture factories are entering automated production, and signage shops want to cut acrylic and letters themselves. With so many options and suppliers, the buying decision has become harder than before.
In this guide we answer the questions customers ask us every day: which type suits my work? What decides the price? How much will the machine cost me per month? How do I prepare the workshop? And where do I buy in Riyadh, Jeddah or Dammam and find someone to serve me after the sale?
Types of CNC machines and which suits your business
CNC means the machine runs on computer numerical control, and it covers many types, all of which you will find on our CNC machines in Saudi Arabia page; each differs in the material it works with and how it works. Here is a table that sums up the picture:
| Type | Materials | Suited to |
|---|---|---|
| CNC router | Wood, MDF, acrylic, cladding | Doors, décor, furniture and letters |
| Fiber laser | Steel, stainless, aluminium, copper | Metalwork, commercial kitchens and electrical panels |
| CO2 laser | Acrylic, wood, leather, fabric | Signage, advertising, gifts and garments |
| Laser marking | Metals, plastics, glass | Gold, gifts and serial numbers |
| Sheet metal bending and shearing | Steel, stainless and aluminium sheet | Doors, cabinets and HVAC ducting |
| Woodworking machines and edge banding | Furniture panels | Kitchens, wardrobes and office furniture |
| Window machines and glass | Aluminium, uPVC, glass | Window, façade and double glazing factories |
And if you are unsure between a router and a laser, read our detailed comparison router, CO2 laser or fiber laser.
The right buying steps in 7 stages
- Write down your actual work: materials, thicknesses, the largest sheet size and monthly production volume.
- Set the type, size and power: for your daily work, not for the biggest number you might need once a year.
- Prepare the site: power, space, compressed air and extraction before the machine arrives.
- Ask for two or three quotes: on the same specifications, in writing and in detail.
- Compare after-sales support: delivery, installation, training, warranty and spare parts in your city.
- Work out the running cost and return: what the machine costs you per month, and what it saves or earns.
- Agree delivery in writing: the delivery date, installation, a test cut in front of you and the length of training.
What decides the price of a CNC machine?
Machine prices vary a lot even within one type, because of a set of factors you need to compare between quotes:
- Size: a 1300×2500 mm table for routers or 3000×1500 mm for lasers is the most common, and larger sizes cost more.
- Power: the laser source or spindle power raises the price and the output. See the fiber laser power guide.
- Components: the brand of the laser source, cutting head, control system, motors and rails.
- Design: open or enclosed, single table or exchange table.
- Options: automatic tool change, a rotary axis, automatic loading and extraction.
- After-sales support: installation, training, the warranty period and parts stock.
Work out the running cost before you buy
You pay the machine price once, but you pay the running cost every month. It includes electricity, gas for fiber lasers, consumables such as nozzles, lenses and bits, maintenance and the operator's salary.
We built a free CNC and laser machine running cost calculator: you choose the machine type, enter the running hours and the electricity price from your bill, and it gives you the monthly, hourly and daily cost, and you can send the result to us on WhatsApp for advice.
Prepare your workshop before the machine arrives
- Power: most industrial machines run on 380 V 3-phase. Check the line and breaker capacity, and consider a voltage regulator if the power in your area is unstable.
- Space: around the machine for loading full sheets, for the exchange table on fiber lasers, and for forklift movement.
- Floor: level and strong, especially for heavy machines such as lasers and press brakes.
- Compressed air: a compressor with enough capacity, plus a dryer and filters, for pneumatic machines and air cutting.
- Extraction and ventilation: chip extraction for routers and woodworking, and fume extraction for lasers vented outside.
- Heat: the Saudi summer strains chillers and motors, so a shaded, ventilated space extends the machine's life.
Buying in Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam and the rest of the Kingdom
The supplier's location matters as much as the machine itself, because any fault without a part or a nearby technician means days of downtime and late orders. Here is what to watch for by city:
Riyadh
Riyadh has the largest concentration of workshops and factories in the Kingdom, from the industrial cities to workshop districts, and demand is high for fiber lasers for metalwork and woodworking machines for kitchens and furniture. The advantage of buying in Riyadh is being close to spare parts and technicians. See CNC machines in Riyadh.
Jeddah
Jeddah is a strong market for signage, advertising, furniture, windows and façades, and demand is high for routers, CO2 lasers and aluminium machines. With the coastal humidity, pay attention to ventilation and protecting the electronics. See CNC machines in Jeddah.
Dammam and the Eastern Province
The Eastern Province is a heavy industrial hub: steel structures, tanks, electrical panels and industrial contracting, with high demand for high-power fiber lasers and bending and shearing machines. Spare parts in Dammam shorten maintenance time. See CNC machines in Dammam.
The rest of the Kingdom
In Qassim, Madinah, Makkah, Abha, Tabuk and elsewhere, ask the supplier clearly: do they deliver and install in your city? Who visits you if a fault occurs? How long does supplying a part take? Robotech delivers, installs and trains in every region of the Kingdom.
A local supplier or direct import from abroad?
Some buyers consider importing the machine themselves to save on price. That is possible, but compare the whole picture:
| Item | Local supplier | Direct import |
|---|---|---|
| Installation and commissioning | A team installs it and test-cuts in front of you | You arrange it yourself or with a remote technician |
| Training | On your site, in Arabic | Videos or video calls |
| Warranty | Written and served locally | Usually shipping the part from abroad |
| Spare parts | Stock inside the Kingdom | Weeks of shipping and customs clearance |
| Shipping and clearance | The supplier's responsibility | Yours, at your risk |
| Faults | A technician visits you | Downtime until the part arrives |
The price difference usually disappears in the first long stoppage. That is why most factories prefer a local supplier with a team and parts inside the Kingdom.
Questions to ask the supplier before you sign
- Exactly which brand is the laser source or spindle and the control system?
- Does the price include delivery, unloading, installation and test cutting?
- How many days of training, and does it cover the software and daily maintenance?
- What is the warranty period and what does it cover?
- Where is the spare parts stock, and how long does supplying a key part take?
- Do you have customers in my area whose machine I can see?
You can see real photos of our machine handovers and installations at customers on our projects page.
Common mistakes that cost buyers a lot
- Buying the largest size and highest power "just in case" with no work to justify it.
- Relying on the cheapest quote without comparing components and after-sales support.
- Forgetting to prepare power, air and extraction until the machine arrives.
- Ignoring operator training, so the machine runs at half its capacity.
- Neglecting daily maintenance, especially with dust and heat. See the CNC machine maintenance checklist.
Summary
The right machine is the one that suits your daily work, that someone can service in your city, and whose running cost you know before you buy it. Start by defining your work, work out the cost in the calculator, and compare quotes on the same specifications and after-sales support.
Send us on WhatsApp your type of work, materials and sizes, and we will recommend the right machine with a written quote the same day, plus delivery, installation and training in Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam and every region of the Kingdom.
FAQ
It depends on the material: for wood and acrylic a 1325 router or a CO2 laser, and for metal a 1500 to 3000 W fiber laser. Start from your daily work and expand later.
