Edge Banding Machine Prices in Saudi Arabia: Manual or Automatic, and What Makes the Difference

The difference between a basic edge bander and a full automatic machine is large in price and in finish quality. This guide shows exactly what you are paying for.

The edge banding machine gives a kitchen or wardrobe its final look in front of the customer. A clean edge with no gaps or glue residue means a product that looks premium, and a poor edge means complaints. That is why the price difference between models has a clear reason.

We don't publish figures on the site because the price changes with the model and stages, but here we explain what decides the price so you can compare correctly. You can see the models in our edge banding machines.

1. Number of stages: the biggest price difference

The machine passes the panel through units one after another, each doing a stage. The more stages, the higher the price and the less manual work after banding:

Stages by machine class
StageBasic machineFull automatic machine
Pre-millingUsually notYes
Gluing and pressingYesYes
End trimmingYesYes
Rough and fine trimmingYesYes
Corner roundingNoYes
Scraping and buffingNo or partialYes

The 486YG, for example, has all these stages, giving you an edge ready for delivery with no manual finishing. Details of each stage are in the edge banding machine guide.

2. Panel and edging thickness

Machines differ in the maximum panel and edging thickness they can handle. The 4500AT, for example, works with panels from 10 to 45 mm, and the 486YG with panels from 10 to 60 mm, both with edging from 0.4 to 3 mm. If your work includes thick worktops or doors, choose a machine that covers your thicknesses.

3. Feed speed

Feed speed (such as 12 – 20 m/min) decides how many metres of edge you band per minute. Actual output is lower because of loading and gaps between panels, but higher speed matters for factories working in volume, and raises the price.

4. The glue system

Most machines run on hot-melt EVA glue, which suits most furniture. Some higher models support stronger PUR glue that resists water and heat, or a quick-change glue pot, which raises the price but matters for kitchens and bathrooms, especially with coastal humidity.

5. Build quality and control

  • Motors and knives: strong motors and good knives give clean trimming and last longer.
  • Control screen: a touch screen makes it easy to set the stages and save settings.
  • Frame and conveyor: a heavy frame and a stable conveyor keep the panel straight.
  • Power and air: most automatic machines need 380 V 3-phase and compressed air (for example 0.6 MPa for the 4500AT).

6. After-sales support

An edge bander has knives, rollers and glue that need adjustment and maintenance. Make sure the quote includes installation, adjustment on your panels and operator training, and that knives and spare parts are available locally.

Is automatic edge banding worth it?

If your workshop bands by hand or sends panels to another workshop, work it out: how much do you pay for outside banding each month? How many hours does a worker lose on manual finishing? Automatic banding cuts this a lot, and is usually one of the first machines to pay for itself in kitchen and wardrobe factories. Work out its running cost in the running cost calculator and choose "Automatic edge bander".

How to compare two quotes

  1. List the stages in each machine and compare them stage by stage.
  2. Compare the maximum panel and edging thickness.
  3. Compare feed speed and total power.
  4. Ask about the glue type supported.
  5. Compare installation, training, warranty and knife availability.

And before banding, cutting accuracy matters a lot. Read the sliding table saw guide.

Used or new edge bander?

A used machine looks cheaper at first, but it carries risks you need to count: worn trimming and rounding knives, a burnt glue pot, and motors and sensors that need replacing, all of which affect edge quality. It usually comes with no warranty, installation or training, and an unknown maintenance history.

If you choose used, check it running on your material in front of you, ask for any maintenance invoices, and make sure its parts are available before paying.

Site preparation costs

Besides the machine price, there are preparation costs to include in your budget from the start so you are not surprised on installation day:

  • Power: automatic machines such as the 4500AT need 380 V 3-phase, with total power up to 15 kW.
  • Space and floor: a level, strong area, with room around the machine for loading, unloading and workers moving.
  • Compressed air: a compressor with a dryer at the right pressure, such as 0.6 MPa for the 4500AT.
  • Ventilation and heat: a shaded, ventilated space extends the life of motors and electronics, especially in the Saudi summer.

Choose the machine for your production volume

Which class suits you?

Questions to ask the supplier before you sign

  1. Exactly which stages are included? (pre-milling, gluing, end trimming, trimming, corner rounding, scraping, buffing)
  2. What are the thinnest and thickest panel and edging?
  3. What are the feed speed and total power?
  4. Which glue type is supported?
  5. Does the price include installation, adjustment on my panels and training?
  6. Are knives and rollers available locally?

A confident supplier answers these questions clearly and in writing. You can see real photos of our machine handovers and installations at customers on our projects page.

Common mistakes when buying

  • Buying a machine without pre-milling, so gaps appear between the edging and the panel.
  • Choosing a machine that does not cover the thickness of worktops or doors.
  • Forgetting the compressor and compressed air in the budget.
  • Using glue that is unsuited to kitchens and damp places.

The warranty: what to check in the quote

The warranty is one of the most important differences between edge bander quotes, but it is often written in general terms. Ask for the details in writing in the quote:

  • Period: how many years, and when does it start: from delivery or from installation?
  • What it covers: the motors, glue unit, heaters, control panel and sensors.
  • What it does not cover: consumables that wear with use, and faults caused by misuse or unstable power.
  • Response: how long until a technician reaches you, and is there remote support before the visit?
  • Spare parts: are replacement parts available inside the Kingdom or ordered from abroad?

A strong warranty with a nearby technician and parts inside the Kingdom is worth a lot if a fault occurs, because every day of downtime means late orders and idle workers.
