The CO2 laser is the machine most requested by signage, gift and award shops, because it cuts acrylic with polished edges and engraves wood, leather and fabric precisely. But there are many models, and the price varies with size, power and options.
We don't publish figures on the site because the price changes with the specifications, but here we explain what decides the price so you can choose the right machine and compare quotes correctly. See the available models in our CO2 lasers.
1. Table size
| Size | Working area | Suited to |
|---|---|---|
| 50 W desktop | 510×300 mm | Gifts, small work and starting from home |
| 4060 / 6040 | 600×400 mm | Studios and small gift shops |
| 6090 | 900×600 mm | Crafts, awards and medium signs |
| 1390 | 1300×900 mm | Signage and advertising shops, the most common |
| 1610 | 1600×1000 mm | Fabric and leather with a conveyor |
| 1325 | 1300×2500 mm | Full sheets and high-volume production |
The larger the size, the higher the price, so choose for the largest part you cut regularly. And if you sometimes need to cut sheets longer than the table, models with pass-through doors on both sides solve the problem.
2. Laser tube power
- 40 – 60 W: engraving and light cutting of thin wood, leather, paper and thin acrylic.
- 80 – 100 W: cutting acrylic and wood at medium thicknesses at good speed, suited to most signage shops.
- 130 – 150 W: faster cutting and greater thicknesses for high volume.
3. Options that raise the price and save time
- Auto focus: sets the distance between the lens and the material at the press of a button instead of manual adjustment.
- Up-and-down table: for cutting thick materials and tall pieces.
- Pass-through doors: for cutting sheets longer than the table.
- Two tables (honeycomb and blades): honeycomb for engraving and blades for thick cutting.
- Preview camera: see where the piece is and fit the design to it directly, available on some desktop models.
- High-quality lenses and mirrors: carry the beam more efficiently and give a cleaner cut.
- Fume filtration (HEPA and carbon): for enclosed spaces and shops.
4. Motors, rails and control
Most CO2 machines run on stepper motors and linear rails, and some larger models have finer rails or servo motors for faster production. The control system (such as DSP with a USB port and remote operation) affects ease of work and connecting several machines to one computer.
5. Running cost
A CO2 laser uses little electricity compared with metal machines, but count: the chiller, the extractor, cleaning lenses and mirrors, and replacing the tube after its life. Work out the monthly cost in the running cost calculator and choose "CO2 laser".
Is a CO2 laser the right machine for your work?
CO2 is excellent for acrylic, wood, leather and fabric, but does not practically cut metal. For engraving gold and stainless choose a fiber marking machine, for cutting sheet metal a fiber laser, and for raised letters and thick wood a router. The full comparison is in router, CO2 laser or fiber laser.
How to compare quotes
- Compare the actual working area, not just the model name.
- Compare the tube power, brand and expected life.
- Look at the options: auto focus, lifting table and pass-through doors.
- Ask about the chiller and extractor: are they included with the machine?
- Check installation, software training, warranty and the availability of tubes and lenses.
Used or new CO2 laser?
A used machine looks cheaper at first, but it carries risks you need to count: a laser tube near the end of its life that needs replacing soon, worn lenses and mirrors, and a weak chiller. It usually comes with no warranty, installation or training, and an unknown maintenance history.
| Item | New from a local supplier | Used |
|---|---|---|
| Warranty | Written warranty | Usually none |
| Installation and training | Included | Your responsibility |
| Parts condition | New | Unknown and needs checking |
| Spare parts | Available and known | Depends on model and age |
| Price | Higher at first | Lower at first |
If you choose used, check it running on your material in front of you, ask for any maintenance invoices, and make sure its parts are available before paying.
Site preparation costs
Besides the machine price, there are preparation costs to include in your budget from the start so you are not surprised on installation day:
- Power: most CO2 machines run on 220 V, and large models with a chiller and extractor need a stable line.
- Space and floor: a level, strong area, with room around the machine for loading, unloading and workers moving.
- Fume extraction: an extractor vented outside or a filter, because cutting acrylic and wood produces fumes and smells. And never cut materials containing PVC, because their fumes are harmful and corrode machine parts.
- Ventilation and heat: a shaded, ventilated space extends the life of motors and electronics, especially in the Saudi summer.
How the machine pays for itself in a signage or gift shop
A CO2 laser is one of the fastest machines to pay for itself in signage and gift shops, because it opens work you used to give to others or turn down:
- Cutting acrylic letters and logos for shops.
- Engraved awards and gifts for companies, schools and events.
- Wooden boxes, packaging and models.
- Wayfinding signs, numbers and names.
- Engraving leather and fabric for personalised products.
Compare what you currently pay for outside cutting and how many orders you lose because of time with the running cost from the calculator, and you will know roughly when the machine pays for itself.
Questions to ask the supplier before you sign
- What is the actual working area?
- What is the tube power and brand? What is its expected life, and how much is a replacement?
- Is there auto focus, a lifting table and pass-through doors?
- Are the chiller and extractor included with the machine?
- Which software is it, and does it support Arabic text?
- Does the price include installation, training and warranty?
A confident supplier answers these questions clearly and in writing. You can see real photos of our machine handovers and installations at customers on our projects page.
The warranty: what to check in the quote
The warranty is one of the most important differences between CO2 laser quotes, but it is often written in general terms. Ask for the details in writing in the quote:
- Period: how many years, and when does it start: from delivery or from installation?
- What it covers: the power supply, board and motors, and the tube's warranty period, because it usually differs from the rest of the machine.
- What it does not cover: consumables that wear with use, and faults caused by misuse or unstable power.
- Response: how long until a technician reaches you, and is there remote support before the visit?
- Spare parts: are replacement parts available inside the Kingdom or ordered from abroad?
A strong warranty with a nearby technician and parts inside the Kingdom is worth a lot if a fault occurs, because every day of downtime means late orders and idle workers.

Summary
The price of a CO2 laser is set by size, power, options, tube and optics quality, and after-sales support. Start from the largest part you cut and the materials you work with, send us the details on WhatsApp, and we will recommend the right model with a written quote the same day. And see every category on CNC machines in Saudi Arabia.
FAQ
It depends on tube power and options such as auto focus and a lifting table. Send us your work and we will send you a written quote the same day.
